I love this! Such a good trip. I love doing the hop on hop off tours too, you see so much of the city from a different perspective. Love the postcards too.
I loved family vacations when I was growing up. Going to different places, learning about the history and culture of each different place. My son was less enthusiastic about that when he was growing up. He preferred returning to the same lake year after year, punctuated with a few Disney trips.
Tanya, I absolutely love how consumed by wanderlust you and me are! I love Eastern Europe, especially Croatia and Hungary! I have several friends in Croatia and the language is not terribly hard to pick up once you start surrounding yourself in the culture. Pardon me, while I live my life vicariously through your blog. I remember the giant road atlases, so many memories! My parents aren’t very tech savvy and they still use them to this day and it honestly just makes my heart happy haha!

I love this! My parents were travelers too, and every year we went somewhere new, where we could explore and learn about history. My husband and I are trying to do that with our kids as well! Can’t wait for your next post!

Hard to beat a good road trip. The countryside rolling by, new towns and destinations, the tourist traps, the diners, the weird things you see…
I used to love following our progress on the map when i was a kid. Taught me a lot of things and now that we got GPS, I can still find my way around places.
There was a signpost just outside our hotel in Vienna. We were there just for the weekend – long way to come from Australia – but one day I’ll come back, hire a car, and drive just down the road to Budapest.
Hahaha that sounds like a lovely trip! However it always makes me laugh how Americans are so used to the A/C 😀 I grew up without it and I think I was better and healthier than now when I live in the U.S. I wake up coughing, freezing or with “wind” blowing to my face. Not so much fun 🙂

It can be frustrating when you cannot connect to a wifi while traveling. Some friends suggested that I should download the map of my destination so at least I know the directions when I am offline.

It’s amazing how technology has changed how we travel, you just can’t get lost anymore! The border crossings in Europe are a lot easier now too. I remember my dad would take us on European road trips when we were young and we;d get bored in the car too. Spotting flash cars in the car park sounds like a fun game for kids, I’d have played that.
That’s great! We love road trips. We have a friend who goes around our country, the Philippines, in his motorbike. We sometimes tag along with him on some segments of his tour.
Road trips are real fun. Excellent opportunity for family bonding too. We too cherish the memories of past road trips. Road trips in Europe are on a different level altogether. We would love to take road trips there, though till now we have only traveled by train across Europe.
